MODEL 850 Fabricated Tee
Type |
|
General Description: While the model
850's standard dimensions are based on standard commercial fittings,
the unit can be designed to accommodate almost any piping restriction.
It is available with butt weld or flanged connections. It is economical
and readily available in almost any weldable material. The convoluted
basket, which is standard on the model 850, gives the design an advantage
of 170% in screen area over competitive equivalents. In larger sizes,
the model 850 can be economical and functionally better than the "Y"
Strainer. model 850 Tee Type strainers are most frequently used for
pump protection applications. The Fabricated
model 850 is a composite of special features which can be tailored to
accommodate the toughest applications.

Configurations:
The model 850 can
be specifically designed to meet very tight dimensional restrictions.
It can also be designed for straight-through or right-angle flow, making
it ideal for retrofit situations in which strainers were initially omitted. Perhaps the most
important feature of the model 850 is its low pressure drop. The combination
of convoluted screen and unrestricted floe path, provides resulting
pressure losses equal, in some cases, to 1/2 that of an equivalent basket
strainer. While the model 850 has a screen equal in size to 1/2 the
equivalent basket strainer, its pressure drop makes it ideal for applications
such as condensate and boiler feed pump suction where water quality
is good and pressure drop is very critical. The model 850 is treated as a pressure vessel rather than a fitting. As such, it can be designed to practically any operating conditions per code. It can be lined, making it ideal for certain applications (scrubbers, etc.) |
